Low morale. Negative patient reviews. Preventable clinical errors. They all have one thing in common: poor communication.

Circular graphic showing 70% statistic in bold orange, representing the high impact of emotional intelligence (EQ) on healthcare team performance and patient outcomes.

The cost is impossible to ignore:

  • 70% of healthcare errors stem from communication failures. (Joint Commission)
  • Poor communication leads to 70% of major safety incidents, threatening care quality and hospital reputation. (NIH)
  • It costs hospitals $1.7 billion in malpractice payout

When communication fails, the entire system feels it — from patient satisfaction scores to staff morale to your hospital’s bottom line.

Two female doctors in white lab coats discussing patient care in a hospital hallway, representing teamwork challenges in healthcare environments.

You can feel it every day as a leader: strained conversations in the hallway, staff who avoid each other, frustrated patients filling out surveys with complaints.

You’ve tried following protocol: stepping in to intervene, sit-down talks, and moving it up the chain of command. Maybe you’ve even issued a Performance Improvement Plan, but the conflict continues.

You don’t want to lose the employee, but you’ve tried everything.

This is more than a personality clash—it’s an issue of Emotional Intelligence (EQ).

Clinical skills save lives – but alone they’re not enough.

When emotional intelligence (EQ) is missing, burnout rises, collaboration breaks down, and patients lose trust

To lead effectively in healthcare today, teams need more than credentials. They need empathy, compassion, communication skills, emotional regulation, and healthy relationships with coworkers and patients.

Emotional Intelligence training
has been proven to…

  • Reduce employee stress and burnout
  • Improve job performance and satisfaction
  • Increase teamwork, collaboration, and problem-solving
  • Improve patient outcomes and satisfaction

In today’s high-stress healthcare environment, EQ isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s essential.

Your Patients Are Speaking.
Are You Listening?

Patients are voicing serious concerns about the care they receive. Too often, they feel rushed or dismissed, instead of heard, respected, and understood.

Patients are asking for the following:

Better Communication

Clear, compassionate, two-way dialogue.

Stronger
Trust

Confidence that their care team is competent, transparent, and honest.

Providers
Who Care

Empathy, attentiveness, and respect at every touchpoint.

Without these essentials, patients often end up switching providers.

The good news? Emotional Intelligence (EQ) isn’t neurosurgery. In just 60 minutes, you can build the tools to transform your daily practice, improve patient satisfaction, and lead with clarity and confidence.

Create better experiences for patients and a healthier culture for your team.

Now is the time to act—invest in meaningful solutions that support your team and elevate the quality of care.

Designed for physicians, nurses, administrators, and allied healthcare professionals, this course can also help fulfill CE/CME or state licensure requirements (where applicable).

  • “This course reshaped my practice with deeper self-awareness and renewed compassion.”

“I was fortunate enough to participate in The Emotional Intelligence course by Bill Bergau. I have been a practicing Registered Nurse for 36 years in the hospital setting and listened to this very relevant, pertinent lecture that helped me in many ways. The information was helpful and encouraged introspection, self-evaluation, analysis, and appraisal. It reminded me of the need of those I can impact in a very vulnerable state. I believe my performance will be enhanced and I will incorporate this into my daily practice. So grateful that Bill has presented this information and I encourage any person or healthcare personnel to participate in this course.”
    Lisa Wall, RN, BSN
  • “Bill’s coaching was engaging, judgment-free, and genuinely life-changing.”

“I had the best experience doing coaching with Bill! I had to do mandatory coaching and did not know what to expect. Bill made it so very easy. To begin with, he was very non-judgmental. His calm demeanor made the sessions fun and engaging. He started with basics and went up from there. Bill is also very flexible and worked well with me while working nights. He is very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend him!”
    Karen Green, M.D.
    NCH Hospitalist
  • “Bill’s thoughtful coaching strengthened my relationships and elevated my leadership.”

“Bill’s coaching has been truly transformative—his thoughtful guidance, unwavering support, and authentic care for my success have helped me deepen my interpersonal relationships and become a more thoughtful and agile healthcare leader. My deepest gratitude, Bill.”
    Christina Volpicelli
Organizational Development Manager, Naples Community Hospital (NCH)
  • “These coaching sessions taught me to respond with clarity, confidence, and emotional control.”

“I learned a lot from my coaching sessions with Bill. I appreciate that I had his support throughout the training sessions and could always count on him to be a listening ear and a voice of reason. More importantly, I learned a valuable skill set and the significance of responding to certain situations rather than reacting. I’ve implemented the breathing and calming techniques that I acquired from the sessions and I continually use these during challenging situations in professional settings. I can now discern when it is appropriate to voice my opinion in certain environments. Overall, this was a great experience and I would recommend it to other healthcare professionals.”
    Dr. Medjine Jarbath

Meet the Instructor: Bill Bergau

“Why didn’t anybody teach us this in school?” is what my clients often ask.

Emotional intelligence is the cornerstone of quality healthcare. Providing the best possible care is a team sport, and it doesn’t matter how brilliant someone is if they can’t communicate effectively or work well with others.

The problem isn’t that these dedicated physicians, surgeons, and nurses are incapable of empathy, collaboration, or emotional regulation—the issue is that they were never taught. Add in a high-stress, often emotionally charged environment…and you end up with burnout, conflict, and occasionally even lawsuits.

After successfully coaching physicians on an individual level, I designed a solution to help administrators get ahead of the problem. This training will help your physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, administrators, and all team members meet their daily challenges with strength and compassion.
